GCH Abby Ka Dabby JH
CHIC #87093

Abigail is our original German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP). The meaning of Abigail is "my father's joy." There's no doubt that this girl has been a true joy! When we set out to get a shorthair, we were thinking a good, walk-behind hunting dog would be a terrific addition to our family. We were not intendting to compete, show or really do anything but pleasure hunt. And hunt we did!

As Abby started to grow, we realized we had something very special. We absolutely fell  in love with the breed. I became interested in rescue and decided to volunteer. As luck would have it, folks from our local GSP club were assigned to do our home visit so we could become a foster home. New friendships were made and Ashley and I became members of the Florida Panhandle German Shorthaired Pointer Club. The rest is history!

I started competing in the field with Abby when she was three. With very limited handling skills, I maneuvered Abby to her Junior Hunter title. Boy did we have fun! Abby's such a strong hunter and has a nose that won't quit!

I also tried the show ring, but knew I needed help. Enter Lara Spears, Sharpmtn Handeling. Lara and Abby started the quest for Abby's championship title February 2012. Lara finished Abby's Championship title with back-to-back major wins in Franklin, NC March 2012! Lara continued with Abby, and on June 22, 2012, Abby earned her Grand Championship title, and invitation to Eukanuba! This was a dream come true.

Abby is retired these days and enjoys pleasure hunting, lounging on the sofa and her full-time job of ruling the roost!
